Direct Support Janitorial position is responsible for maintaining clean, safe and sanitary conditions in and around SIU, as well as other janitorial contracts that are provided by SIU to outside businesses, agencies, and residences. Duties will include sanitation of restrooms, floor and window care, cleaning of the building and surrounding grounds, removal of garbage, compost and recycling, The position may also participate in other janitorial contract that are provided by SIU to outside businesses, agencies. the Direct Support Janitorial Staff will assist clients to become more integrated in their communities by maximizing the client’s strengths, interests and abilities. Through employment activities, ultimately supporting the individual in meeting his or her own goals.

First Aid/CPR, Mandatory Abuse Reporting, DSP, Employment training and OIS Certification will be required and provided during on the job training which must be completed within the time allotted.

Hard Skills Required: (e.g. Excel, Word, readingskills, etc.) Basic Level competency with Microsoft Word. Must learn new computer systems quickly and easily; will be expected to learn NOTO on the job. Must be able to read and write in proficient English.

Soft Skills Needed: (e.g. communication,leadership, initiative etc) The ability to communicate professionally, clearly, orally and in writing, with employees, managers, the general community, and clients is a must.

Physical Requirements: The work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs. Must be able to drive an SIU vehicle safely while ensuring the safety of the clients. Must be able to move around outdoors where the ground may be uneven and/or sloped occasionally to frequently. Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Other: Must be able to pass a thorough Adult and Children background check and must also have a current Oregon Driver’s License with a clean record for the preceding 3 years. Must retain the ability to remain on SIU’s driver’s insurance policy. Starting pay from $13.50 to $15.75 depending on experience.
